Inaugural Symposium

29th January 2011 at The Core, UBD.

To instigate iCUBE’s programmes and activities, UBD has hosted the Consortium’s first symposium with the theme “Enhancing Inter-University Collaboration Through Research and Education on Biodiversity, Climate Change and the Environment”.

Distinguished speakers from iCUBE’s member universities presented their papers on the capabilities and research capacities in addressing the issues and problems of biodiversity, climate change and the environment. By sharing and exchanging this information, iCUBE would be able to design a framework that can promote collaboration and co-operative activities in research, teaching and learning on these global challenges among the participating institutions. This would also strengthen existing and further create international linkages, thereby promoting intellectual and educational exchanges and interaction among scholars and students in partner universities. Through the paper presentations, UBD staff who attended the symposium had the opportunity to learn and understand the various research and teaching initiatives on biodiversity, climate change and the environment being carried out in the partner universities. At the same time, the symposium would get staff of different faculties and disciplines of UBD together to discuss thoughts and exchange ideas, and culminate in collaborative research and education endeavours with iCUBE members.
